Scholarships to Study in China and Northern Cyprus: Full and Partial Options (2026–27)
Full and partial scholarships for China and Northern Cyprus: how the CSC scholarship and university tuition waivers work, who can apply and how we help.

If you want to study abroad but can't afford full tuition, China and Northern Cyprus are two destinations where funding is realistic. China offers fully funded government scholarships that are competitive, while universities in Northern Cyprus commonly reduce tuition for international students as part of admission. This guide explains how full and partial scholarships work in each place, who can apply, and how Antonov & Partners can help you apply.
Scholarship rules, amounts and deadlines change every year and differ by university and country. Always confirm them on the official scholarship or university website before you apply.
Full and partial scholarships: what's the difference?
- Full scholarship: covers tuition and usually more, such as accommodation, a monthly allowance and health insurance. These are competitive.
- Partial scholarship: covers part of the cost, for example a percentage of tuition. You pay the rest, plus your living costs.
Scholarships in China
Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC): full funding
The Chinese Government Scholarship, run by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), is the main fully funded route for international students at bachelor's, master's and PhD level.
- It generally covers tuition, university accommodation, a monthly stipend and medical insurance. Check the official terms for exclusions such as flights and visa costs.
- Age limits are commonly under 25 for bachelor's, under 35 for master's and under 40 for PhD.
- From the 2026/27 academic year, undergraduate applicants must also take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA).
- Deadlines depend on your country and the route you use, and often fall between January and April.
- Many universities also require a separate application through their own portal, and you can't hold two Chinese government scholarships at the same time.
University and provincial scholarships: partial or full
Many Chinese universities, and some cities and provinces, offer their own awards. These range from partial tuition reductions to full funding, and each has its own deadlines and requirements.
Scholarships in Northern Cyprus
Universities in Northern Cyprus, such as Eastern Mediterranean University, Near East University, Cyprus International University and Girne American University, usually assess your scholarship at the same time as your admission.
- A standard reduction of around 50% of tuition is commonly reported for admitted international students.
- Higher merit awards, often 75% and sometimes up to 100% in certain faculties, depend on your school grades and the programme.
- Some universities also give sports scholarships and sibling discounts.
- Intakes are usually in autumn (September–October) and spring (February–March), but check each university.
These are mostly partial scholarships. Accommodation, food and health insurance usually remain your own cost.
Before you choose: check recognition
Northern Cyprus is recognised as a state only by Turkey, and its universities' degrees are recognised differently around the world. Before you apply, check that the employers, countries or universities you plan to deal with accept the degree.
How we help, and what it costs
We help students apply for scholarships in China and Northern Cyprus. Our support includes:
- Choosing universities and programmes that match your profile and budget.
- Checking eligibility and deadlines.
- Preparing, translating and legalizing your documents.
- Reviewing your motivation letter and CV.
- Submitting applications and following them up.
Our support is a paid service, and we agree the scope and fee with you before you start. The scholarships themselves are decided by the Chinese government and by each university, so we can't guarantee an award or an admission. The CSC application has no fee of its own, so what you pay us is for preparation and support, not for the scholarship.
Common mistakes
- Missing the deadline set for your country.
- Applying only to the CSC without applying to a university.
- Sending a generic motivation letter.
- Choosing a degree without checking that it is recognised where you need it.
- Trusting anyone who promises a guaranteed full scholarship.
